Overview

The  Working Foreman will spend approximately 50% of the time working on jobs and 50% on leadership responsibilities. This position is responsible for performing all functions of a highly skilled technician and will act as the supervisor and trainer for other Technicians on the floor. The Working Foreman ensures optimal efficiency and quality by assisting technicians with diagnostics, scheduling workflow, assigning technicians to jobs appropriate to their skill levels, and helping technicians prioritize their time.

Responsibilities

  • Perform skilled and complicated heavy-duty truck diagnosis and repair with minimum supervision.
  • Help the management team keep shop clean and safe. Work as a united team with the Service Manager to ensure technician team is made aware of and follows company policies and procedures including but not limited to post-accident & injury, meal & rest breaks, and EHS rules and regulations.
  • Assist technicians with difficult or high-priority repairs and ensure completion of proper documentation.
  • Dispatch repair orders to technicians to perform required work within Standard Repair Times. Follow up as work is completed to ensure work is being properly performed and that customer expectations are met.
  • Ensure inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies are appropriately stocked and protected from loss. Notify Service Manager of supply needs that are not being met.
  • Communicate with service admin team on scheduling Quality Control test drives and customer vehicle pickup.
    Provide consistent communication to service office team to ensure updates can be delivered to our customers accurately, and consistently by the service advisors.
  • Serve as leader and role-model conducting oneself with highest of ethical, professional, and safety standards Provide training to technicians in areas of technical repair, shop procedures, etc. 

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 5+ years in a heavy-duty Diesel or Trailer Technician position, as applicable
  • Master-level knowledge of heavy-duty truck or trailer diagnosis and repair
  • Sound knowledge of shop operations and flow
  • General knowledge of truck or trailer parts inventory and sales process
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • Solid computer skills; ability to effectively utilize all required systems and programs.
  • Strong diagnostic skills and basic understanding of diagnostic software.
  • Professional demeanor (including ability to maintain composure in stressful situations)
  • Ability to effectively train and coach varying levels of team member abilities
  • Ability to utilize and operate all tools and equipment for job
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to obtain forklift certification

Compensation

The base pay range for this position is $36.16 to $45.20.
