Overview

The Regional Parts Transfer Truck Driver will be responsible for loading and securing loads from one TEC Equipment branch, deliver them to another, and safely unload the parts. The driver will be domiciled out of the Portland branch and deliver North to the Seattle/Lacey locations and South to Eugene and Medford.  On non-driving days responsibilities include warehouse work and local Customer deliveries.

Responsibilities

  • Load boxed and palleted truck parts into truck and secure them safely to avoid damage or accidents
  • Drive loads to TEC Equipment locations throughout Oregon and Washington along the I-5 corridor, unload cargo and reload for return trip.
  • Abide by all highway safety rules, scale requirements, and Hazmat rules; and perform system pre-trip checks before driving
  • Maintain continuous communication with supervisor, parts counter, Inventory Control Administrator, Parts Clerk, and/or Shipping & Receiving clerks. Provide customer information to counter personnel and supervisor. Keep supervisor updated on any delays so customer is aware of the estimated arrival time.
  • Help the parts team become the premier Parts Department in the community through timely, accurate, safe, and friendly deliveries and pickups to and from customer locations as well as satellite stores and vendors.
  • Always ensure that parts being delivered match the customer’s invoices and transfer requests
  • Check-in with Parts Manager or designated team member before leaving on parts runs, to discuss schedule and stops
  • Use delivery vans or trucks to deliver parts to local customers
  • Maintain a professional appearance and ensure delivery vehicle is clean and well-maintained; report needed truck repairs to the Parts Manager or designated parts department team member.
  • Unload truck at the end of each shift; turn in all paperwork and undelivered parts.
  • Wash delivery vehicle inside and out on a regular basis and ensure vehicle is properly maintained and presentable at all times. Complete vehicle safety checks on a regular basis.
  • Assist Warehouse team with incoming and outgoing shipments. Operate forklift if certified, and/or complete other supporting tasks for Parts Department as directed by Parts Manager.
  • Wear personal protective equipment as required.

Qualifications

  • Prior customer service experience
  • Valid Class A or B professional driver’s license with good driving record
  • Hazmat endorsement (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Ability to navigate metro area using both electronic and paper maps
  • Ability to communicate in English
  • Ability to develop and maintain business relationships with customers and co-workers
  • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve and manage time
  • Fork lift experience a plus
