Overview

The Used Truck Sales Manager  is responsible for the efficient and profitable operation of the Used Truck Sales Department which includes developing and maintaining valued customer and vendor relationships, creating opportunities that result in strong, steady, and sustainable business growth, and the management of the Used Truck Sales team toward set goals.

Responsibilities

  • Take full accountability for the profitability, risk management, and growth of the used truck sales department. 
  • Cultivate and maintain strong industry relationships in order to keep consistent supply of used inventory.
  • Analyze financial, payroll, and inventory reports on a weekly basis, MIS reports on a monthly basis, and take initiative to identify and act upon trends and opportunities. Lead business planning for the department.
  • Demonstrate command of financials by completing monthly bridge schedules. Understand when to escalate needs to the General or Regional manager or the corporate team.
  • Build customer relationships and loyalty through a well-trained, knowledgeable sales staff while being available to provide sales support as needed.
  • Hire and develop used truck sales team while managing the appropriate staffing level. 
  • Maintain appropriate stocking levels for current market conditions to ensure appropriate inventory levels are consistently held. Analyze data and market trends and proactively move older equipment to avoid overage positions. Work with GM to develop tools to manage purchasing and inventory management process.
  • Align department activities with the TEC value proposition and ensure that every employee and customer understands our values and customer commitment.
  • Serve as leader and role-model to team by conducting self with highest of ethical and professional standards and modeling the TEC Core values. Foster a culture of teamwork and friendly competition. 
  • Commit to a strong and mutually beneficial relationship with the parts, service, finance, and new truck sales departments to maximize dealer profitability and customer satisfaction.
  • Seek out, develop, and maintain excellent vendor and industry relationships.
  • Place an emphasis on professional development for all team members. Empower all team members to become entrepreneurs within their roles. Proactively prioritize own professional development to increase knowledge of business acumen and organizational development best practices.
  • Attend training, departmental meetings, trade shows, and conferences. Stay up to date on company changes, industry trends, product updates, and technological advances.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Five years’ successful leadership experience with proven history of achieving sales and business objectives within trucking industry
  • Prior experience with P&L responsibility preferred
  • Used truck experienced preferred
  • Strong knowledge of trucks and truck industry
  • Sound business acumen with ability to analyze, prioritize, identify, and execute solutions
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding
  • Excellent people management and leadership skills; ability to develop employees at all levels
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to build relationships with internal and external contacts
  • Intermediate proficiency with MS Office and computer programs (dealer management systems, customer relationship management systems, etc.)
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to maintain composure and exercise sound judgment at all times
  • Ability to travel to other TEC locations and to visit customers
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • CDL Class B preferred

Compensation

The total pay range for this position is $154,679 to $232,019.
