Overview

This position is primarily responsible for performing preventative maintenance, diagnosing, and repairing heavy-duty trucks.  We offer in-house advanced-training opportunities - we are one of only three dealer groups in North America that is certified to conduct all Mack/Volvo training up to the master tech certification within our in-house Training Centers. We cover travel costs for our technicians to attend training. We also offer a family-oriented work environment.

 

Sign on bonus of up to $5,000 available depending upon experience/skill level

Responsibilities

  • Installing and up fitting Jerr-Dan equipment/tow truck bodies on various truck chassis.
  • Operate drills, saws, air tools, plasma cutter, and welder.
  • Installing all equipment necessary to modify brand-new vehicles into tow trucks.
  • Routing and installing wire harnesses, controllers, light bars, power supplies, hydraulic hoses, toolboxes, component trays, etc.
  • Disassembling and reassembling of factory vehicles.
  • Read drawings, and follow instruction manuals, including electrical schematics.
  • Work in a productive and cohesive manner with Management and team members
  • Complete all repair orders in a timely manner ensuring all labor and parts are charged to the appropriate unit.
  • Inspect equipment to maintain functional equipment; if any equipment needs repairs notify supervisor/lead or maintenance.
  • Accountable for all direct and indirect labor hours on a daily and weekly basis.
  • Promotes safe work habits & follows safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Body installation: 1 year (preferred not required).
  • Higher consideration will be given to candidates who have completed at least two years, preferably graduated, from a four-year trade school, vocational high school or equivalent, with courses in general shop and automotive repair.
  • Experience in the commercial truck/truck equipment industry preferred.
  • Experience in welding and/or being familiar with welding concepts, practices, and procedures (preferred but not required).
  • Experience working with automotive mechanical & electrical systems is a plus.
  • Experience with hydraulics (PTO Installation) is a plus.
  • Detail-oriented and focused on quality workmanship.
  • Must have own hand tools and have knowledge in their use
  • Must be able to frequently stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Anything above 50 pounds will require assistance of a team member or forklift, etc. as necessary.
  • Must be able to drive/move trucks, valid driver’s license is required.
  • Must be able to follow directions, read, write and speak English.
  • Demonstrate willingness to work with others in a team.

Compensation

The base pay range for this position is $23.68 to $29.60.
